Tricare Dental Plan premiums will increase next plan year, with most users seeing their monthly premiums increase by about $1-$4.
Tricare Dental Plan (TDP) is a voluntary dental insurance program. Dental benefits are administered by United Concordia and are available to active duty family members, National Guard and Reserve members and their dependents. Available in the continental United States (CONUS) and overseas (OCONUS).

To enroll in TDP, your sponsor must be at least 12 months old at the time of enrollment. Family members include a spouse and children under the age of 21 (or 23 if a full-time student). You have registered for 12 months.
There are two costs associated with TDP, monthly premiums and cost sharing. Monthly premiums are based on the sponsor’s status and the number of people enrolled in the plan (individual and family). Cost sharing is based on the services performed, the sponsor’s salary level, and the location (CONUS/OCONUS) of treatment.
Premium “prepaid” software. So you pay this monthly premium to get paid for the next month. If you are employed, you can set aside the premiums to cover them. You can also set up recurring payments from your checking account or credit/debit card.
If you do not make your monthly premium payments, your payment will expire and you will not be able to re-enroll for 12 months.
Understanding Dental Benefits
Cost-sharing is what you pay out-of-pocket for certain services. The price range is determined by your salary level and whether you are located in CONUS or OCONUS. The table below shows the cost share percentages.
The TDP contract year is from May 1 to April 30. The maximum fee per contract for non-orthodontic services is $1,500 per year. Fees for certain diagnostic and preventive services do not apply against the annual maximum.
There is a $1,750 deductible per person for orthodontic treatment. If a member receives orthodontic services, payments for those services cannot exceed $1,750 over the member’s lifetime.
In the OCONUS service area, the government pays costs above the approved rate. This applies to all enrollees except Selected Reserve and IRR family members and IRR (other than special mobilization category) members.

To enroll in the Tricare Dental Program, visit the Tricare Enrollment page and enroll online. If you are unable to enroll in OCONUS online, see the instructions on the enrollment page for more information.
If an existing family plan is used, children are automatically enrolled the day before their first birthday. If the existing plan is for only one family member, the premium will change from single rate plan to family plan. rate
