TRICARE is a unified service health program for active duty members, retired service members, members of the National Defense and Reserves, Medal of Honor recipients, family members, survivors and eligible veterans. TRICARE includes the health resources of the military health system, such as military hospitals and clinics, and works together with a network of civilian health care workers, organizations, pharmacies and providers to protect, protect, protect and improve those assigned. Gives them back CARE Tricare offers a variety of health plans, dental programs and pharmaceutical benefits to eligible beneficiaries.

TRICARE is available worldwide. There are three TRICARE regions in the United States: TRICARE North, TRICARE South, and TRICARE West, TRICARE Eurasia, TRICARE Latin America and Canada, and TRICARE Pacific. Your TRICARE benefits are the same no matter where you live, but there are different customer service contacts for each area. TRICARE works with civilian field contractors to administer TRICARE health care services in four regions. Health Pure Federal Services, LLC Administers Benefits in the Northern Region Human Army Controls Superiority in the South United Nations Health Care Military and Veterans Administration Welfare in the Western Region International SOS Government Services benefits overseas. Your local contractor is your primary source of information and assistance about TRICARE benefits. Each local contractor operates a website and a toll-free customer service center to help with your questions and concerns about eligibility, referrals and preemption, claims, complaints and fraud. Separate contractors administer TRICARE dental and pharmaceutical benefits. You can find out more here. Visit our website for more information on overseas benefits.

Because the TRICARE website is a public website for informational purposes only, it is open to anyone with Internet access – any action that requires registration and access to your personal information is done through a secure TRICARE partner website. These sites require secure access and are maintained by the Department of Defense or medical, dental, and pharmaceutical contractors who administer DoD and TRICARE benefits. You can use partner sites to access your information and complete many secure online services. However, each site may have different login requirements. In most cases, you will need to register for: a Common Access Card or CAC; Defense Financial and Accounting Services or DFAS, myPay Personal Identification Number or PIN; Why is there no logo for DoD Self-Service or DS Logon? TRICARE benefits are administered by the Department of Defense and civilian contractors, many of which have their own websites and electronic systems. You may need to visit many different sites to serve yourself, but this provides a single gateway to all resources.

Before beginning the enrollment process for TRICARE Prime, first determine whether you live in a primary service area or PSA by checking your zip code. A PSA is a geographic area that is usually close to a military hospital or clinic where Tricare Prime is offered. If you live in PSA, choose PCM. A PCM may be available at a military hospital or clinic or at a civilian TRICARE network provider within a PSA if there is no military PCM. If you are not in PSA, select Plan Finder to learn more about your TRICARE program options.

Information For Patients: About Tricare

There are three ways to enroll in TRICARE Prime: Online: Because your service personnel office, not TRICARE, determines your TRICARE eligibility, TRICARE Prime enrollment is done online through the DoD website through Beneficiary Online Enrollment, or BWE. The BWE website securely connects to your personal information in the Defense Enrollment Reporting System or DERS, a global database of service members and dependents eligible for military benefits. A CAC, DFAS myPay PIN or DS Logon is required to register using BWE. We will discuss these recording methods later in this brief. Telephone: Call your local contractor. Email: Download the TRICARE Chief Enrollment, Disenrollment, and Primary Care Manager (PCM) Change Form, which is DD Form 2876, and mail the form to your local contractor.

The BWE website is a secure site where eligible TRICARE beneficiaries in the US can enroll in TRICARE Prime Options or TRICARE Young Adults or select or change PCM and enroll in TRICARE Dental Options. Beneficiaries can also update contact information in DEERS through BWE. One thing to remember is that you must be registered before you can access anything on BWE. If you need a demonstration of how to use this website, select “BWE Demo” at the bottom of the home page.

To access the many secure self-service options available at BWE, you must log in to: DS Logon, which is available to all women and other beneficiaries aged 18 and above. A CAC or DFAS myPay PIN, including all military and civilian employees of the Department of Defense, can access your payroll information if you do not have a CAC A DS registration, especially if you have family members who need access to your personal health information. TRICARE Priority Mail is required. On the login page, log in using your DS Logon, CAC or DFAS myPay PIN. If you need help, select “Help Center” at the top of the BWE login page.

This slide shows the login options offered by the Beneficiary category. Service members can use any of three options: CAC, DFAS myPay PIN, or DS Logon. Retired service members can usually use a DFAS myPay PIN or DS Logon. Other eligible family members, including spouses, surviving spouses, and children 18 and older, usually require a DS ID for access. DS Logon is open to service members, retired service members and other eligible family members. Note: Members of the United States Coast Guard Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are not paid by DFAS and do not have a DFAS myPay PIN.
