TRICARE is the uniformed services health care program for active-duty military, retired military, National Guard and Reserve members, Medal of Honor recipients, family members, survivors and eligible former spouses. TRICARE connects the healthcare resources of the military health care system – such as military hospitals and clinics – with a network of civilian healthcare professionals, institutions, pharmacies and healthcare providers to promote, protect, maintain and restore the health of those entrusted to them. hands. TRICARE is available worldwide. Because the TRICARE website is solely a public information website – open to anyone with an Internet connection – registrations and any activities that require access to your personal information are completed through secure TRICARE partner websites. These websites require a secure login and are run by the Department of Defense, or DOD, and the medical, dental and pharmaceutical contractors who administer TRICARE benefits. You can use partner sites to access your information and use many secure online services. However, each site may have different login requirements. In many cases you may need: a common access card (CAC); Defense Finance and Accounting Service or DFAS, personal identification number or myPay PIN; Or DoD self-service login or DS Logon Why not one character? TRICARE benefits are administered by the Department of Defense and civilian contractors, many of which have their own websites and electronic systems. Let’s look at one of the most important actions you may need to take – registering or switching. Start by selecting “Sign Up or Buy a Plan” from the menu.

Before beginning the TRICARE Prime enrollment process, first determine whether you live in the Prime or PSA service area by checking your zip code. A PSA is a geographic area, usually near a military hospital or clinic, where TRICARE Prime is offered. If you live in PSA, choose PCM. Your PCM may be located in a military hospital or clinic, or with a civilian TRICARE network provider, PSA, if a military PCM is not available. If you do not live in PSA, select Plan Finder to learn more about your TRICARE program options.

There are three ways to enroll in TRICARE Prime: Online: Because the service personnel office, not TRICARE, determines your eligibility for TRICARE, online enrollment in TRICARE Prime is done through a Department of Defense website called Beneficiary Web Enrollment (BWE). The BWE website securely connects your personal information to the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System, or DEERS, which is a database of service members and their dependents around the world who are eligible for military benefits. To register with BWE, you must have a CAC, DFAS myPay PIN or DS Logon. We will discuss these methods later in this briefing. Telephone: Call your regional contractor. Mail: Download the TRICARE Prime Enrollment, Disenrollment Change Form (DD Form 2876) for Primary Care Manager (PCM) and mail it to your regional contractor.

The BWE website is provided as a secure portal that allows TRICARE-eligible beneficiaries in the United States to enroll in or cancel TRICARE Prime or TRICARE Young Adult options and to select or change a PCM, and to enroll in TRICARE dental options. Beneficiaries can also use BWE to update their contact information in DEERS. The important thing to remember is that you must be logged in before you can access anything on BWE. To access the many secure self-service options available on BWE, you must log in using: DS Logon, which can be used by all spouses and other beneficiaries who are 18 years of age or older; the CAC, which includes all military and civilian personnel of the Ministry of Defense; or DFAS myPay PIN which provides access to your payment information and can be used if you do not have a CAC. DS Login is especially useful if you have family members who need access to personal health information and important TRICARE correspondence. Log in to the login page by entering your DS Logon, CAC or DFAS myPay PIN. If you need help, select “Help Center” at the top of the BWE login page.

This slide shows the available login options by beneficiary category. Service members can use any of three options including CAC, DFAS myPay PIN or DS Logon. Retired service members can use myPay DFAS PIN or Logon DS. Other family members, including spouses, surviving spouses and children over the age of 18, usually need Logon DS to gain access. DS Logon provides access to service members, retired service members and other family members. Note: Members of the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Public Health Corps, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration do not pay through DFAS and should not pay using myPay DFAS PINs.
