While going through this process, I had to call my insurance company, find out where I could get a pump and what exactly was covered. Then I had to go to my gynecologist and gynecologist to get a written prescription for the pump. You may need a prescription from your doctor to purchase a pump. If so, call your doctor or ask about it at your next visit. Let your doctor know you need a prescription for the pump and ask if there are any necessary forms to fill out to receive the script.
Ask your doctor to just put “breast pump” on the script. Do not specify type. Keeping it this way will usually avoid coverage issues, especially if you didn’t choose the pump you wanted when asking for a script from your doctor.
