“It was important to him because he was the first sergeant here [at the 101st Airborne Division],” Beltre explained.
The monument is at the center of the Treasury diamond display with four corners representing the four cornerstones of the Treasury: patriotism, service, integrity and competence, Beltre said.

He said that adding the treasury diamond to the monument represented how the treasury soldiers were right in the war with all the other soldiers.
According to Beltre, it is common for a financial institution to support a brigade-sized element when it deploys.
“It is very important to recognize the sacrifice of these two great Americans who gave their lives,” he said.
Karen Tyson, deputy chief of the military budget for the assistant secretary of the Army (Finance and Comptroller), who attended the ceremony and echoed Beltre’s comments.

“I think it’s important to understand that when the military goes somewhere, it’s always a mission-creating team,” he said, “and financial support for commanders … is critical to their success on the battlefield or in peacekeeping.”
Tyson said Soldiers and civilians at Fort Campbell saw the money in the past working alongside the current fund, sending a strong message.
“(The memorial) speaks to the concern and dedication to our troops and the sacrifices they make,” he said. Barracks Campbell is a military base on the Tennessee state line. /Kentucky. It is home to the 5th Special Forces Group and the 101st Airborne Division.
The fort serves more than 30,000 active military personnel and supports expeditionary operations. Barracks Campbell is the training and development center for the Army’s air assault operations.

Unlike some other military bases that date back to the American Revolution, the installation’s history begins in 1941 when land known as Campbell, Tennessee was selected.
Because of its size and proximity to the state line, the fort stretches across Tennessee and Kentucky, causing some disruption to mail delivery and other services.
During the summer of 1942, training activities at Campbell Barracks were progressing well, including operations involving the 101st Field Division.
In 1950, the camp was renamed Fort Campbell and began supporting the 5th Special Forces Group and the 160th Special Operations Aviation Brigade.

In 1958, the Army formed its Precision Parachute Team, and today it is home to the Army’s Operation Screaming Eagles, which conducts air shows as part of the Army’s recruiting efforts.
The installation is one of the largest military communities in the state. Fort Knox is about two and a half hours away with many attractions including Swan Lake State Park and Sears Island.
Fort Campbell has several outdoor attractions. If you’re into fishing, boating and camping, visit Land Between the Lakes. Mammoth Cave National Park features caves and local wine at Beechhaven Vineyards and Winery.
Trazo Meadery is an option, as is Broward Vineyards and Winery. MacGregor Park Waterway is also great for walking and picnicking.

Barracks Campbell’s mission includes support and training in many areas, particularly the 101st Airborne Division’s airborne assault troops. The Fort Campbell Air Assault School teaches combat readiness, jumpmaster training and rappelling. Important tasks and units here include, but are not limited to:

Fort Fort Child Development Center offers full-time, part-time and hourly care for children ages six weeks to five years. Many Fort Campbell CDCs have hourly and part-time care options available depending on location.

For information on both supported housing and single/detached housing, contact the Fort Campbell Office of Family Housing and Housing Services. You are encouraged to make an appointment or contact the Housing Services office before entering into a legal housing agreement.
If you must go on an authorized DTY to hunt home, be warned at Fort Campbell that after 10 days, “…this will not happen until the Soldier is assigned to a unit benefit.”

Post housing in Fort Campbell is privatized and operated by Campbell Crossing. It is a “rental community” created in collaboration with the US military, with more than 4 thousand houses installed.

Nashville International Airport serves Fort Campbell, approximately 50 miles away. It is best to coordinate your visit to the Nashville area with your sponsor; Rush hour and other factors can make your journey to the fort very difficult.

Depending on time of arrival, demand and other variables, regular ride sharing and taxi services may be available upon arrival. Bus services are not available by post, if you need assistance, please contact your sponsor.
Military members who live in other states are not required to register their vehicles in Kentucky.
Active military and their family members do not need a Kentucky driver’s license if they have a license that has not been used elsewhere. A basic decal is not required at press time to run a motor vehicle on the post.
Because Fort Campbell straddles the Kentucky/Tennessee state lines, parents have multiple school options in two states. Depending on where you live and other variables, the following options may be open to you:
