Everything You Need To Know About The Tricare Dental Program

TRICARE will provide immediate access to dental benefits to active duty military members, including members of the National Guard and reservists who are called up or ordered to active duty for more than 30 days to perform federal missions pre-planned or support emergency operations. If you live or work within 50 miles of a military dental clinic (DTF), you should seek care from a military dentist. Go to your parents website or check with your local dentist to find a dentist. The Active Duty Dental Program (ADDP) provides civilian dental care to military members who are unable to receive the care they need from military dental clinics. ADDP is available in the United States and US territories (American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the United States Islands). Compiled by United Concordia Companies, Inc. (United Concordia) The ADDP is available to military members who: receive instructions from a military DTF, or live and work more than 50 miles from a military DTF base. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are correctly registered as a Remote User in DEERS, if required. You must work with your school district to change DEERS. Note: If you live or work within 50 miles of a military DTF and seek civilian dental care without a referral, you may be responsible for the full cost. In addition, if you live remotely, you will need an Accounts Payable Number (ACN) to make an appointment. We will discuss ACN later.

To save with ADDP, you need an ACN from United Concordia. If you have been designated as an ADDP by a military dentist, he or she must issue you with a certificate to apply to the ACN. This number is only valid for the service stated on your confirmation, so make sure you get a new reference if you need additional services. Remember that private dental care facilities will not be authorized until United Concordia issues an ACN. If you live in a regional area, you can get a Voter Control Number by completing a Voter Number Application form. The form is available on the ADDP website. Once you have an ACN, you can book an appointment through ADDP in three ways: If you have a military dentist, you can book an appointment for yourself. You can contact an ADDP dentist to arrange an appointment for you. Or you can install it yourself. To book your own appointment, inform your dentist online in your appointment number application. You should choose an online dentist who has a contract with United Concordia to provide services at an agreed price. You can find a list of dentists online on the ADDP website. NOTE: Active Reserve members who are within the pre-enlistment period and live within 50 miles of a DTF may seek dental care from a civilian dentist with an ACN. There is no need to access the DTF first.
