Information Systems Security Certification Consortium

Information Systems Security Certification Consortium – I received my CISSP-ISSAP (Information Systems Security Architecture Professional) certification today after passing my exam a few weeks ago.

If you’re not familiar with it, CISSP-ISSAP is a certification offered by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, or (ISC)2 for short. It is a security architecture concentration based on the CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) certification, which is a prerequisite.

Since ISSAP is a very niche area, there is not much specific study material for it. Do not bother until the official (ISC)² guide for ISSAP CBK is overhauled. The second edition is currently the latest and it is very old (from 2014 I think). The contest has been reorganized once or twice, so it has holes and mostly old data (think cloud development in past years).

Many topics are covered in the CISSP material, so refer back to it. For example, the excellent All-in-One CISSP book by Shawn Harris is as important to the CISSP itself as it is to the ISSAP.

I also attended (ISC)² CISSP-ISSAP® boot camp given by infosec institute (https://www.infosecinstitute.com/courses/issap-boot-camp/). It usually covers a lot of topics and doesn’t go into too much, but it’s a good refresher on topics you’re less familiar with. In my case, it’s a common standard, PCI-DSS, and the International Security Architecture Framework, which I’ve never experienced professionally, but was pretty much covered in that course.

There are several flashcard and quiz sites. I have not given any reference because most of them are common and similar to the actual exam. The closest are the free flashcards offered by (ISC)2 itself (https://cloud.connect.isc2.org/issap-flashcards)

I cannot comment on the ISSAP-course offered by (ISC)2. I took their CISSP course and was disappointed. So I don’t want to risk it. If their flagship certification course was bad a few years ago, I don’t think ISSAP is any better. Alexander Fedev was awarded the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) (ISC)². The vendor-neutral CISSP credential validates the technical knowledge and experience in designing, engineering, implementing, and managing an organization’s overall security posture. Demanded by the world’s most security-critical organizations, the CISSP is the gold standard for information security…

Update: I also invite you to read my post about CSSLP (after CISSP) with more details about my learning process and learning method: Shadow of CSSLP

I started reading “CISSP All-in-one Exam Guide” (Sixth Edition, Sean Harris) somewhere in 2015, and my English did not allow me to improve quickly, I can’t help but improve your vocabulary, reading, writing , listening. I didn’t force myself to read, I just decided to do a general review of all the domains to read later. After a while, I stopped studying for a few years and focused on getting real experience in cyber security, which is 14 years until 2021.

Basically, I don’t think having experience in 3 of the 8 domains is enough to confidently pursue the CISSP certification. I think CISSP is more interested in corporate security and in my case I worked for many years in R&D (security development) where you are very close to the technical side but far away from things like security management. Operations, access control. , etc. In 2019, I took an application security position at a company where corporate security is a major concern, and I experienced what CISSP means.

At some point I felt ready, October 2o2o, I had to prove who I was. I started special preparation: 2 hours every morning (books, video courses), then added 2 hours in the evening, and then I did not stop, I devoted 6-8 hours a day, especially that weekend, finally . , I study all week.

Top 20 Reasons To Get A Cissp Certification

I decided to solve Bosean questions to check my preparation. The goal is to pass the exam with a rate of ~80%. I passed. The next minute I signed up for Pearson Vue (ISC)2 and scheduled my exam for tomorrow.

I took a taxi and arrived at the PearsonVue test center half an hour before the exam. The questions are crazy. There were questions when I didn’t know what it was. Just imagine how I feel, after years of working and learning to process information, you’re still seeing something for the first time in a competition.

There are some questions where you have to write some calculations to find the correct answer. Overall, it’s hard to tell if I won or lost.

Later, I came across the official CISSP Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) FAQ and noticed what it says:

Certified Ethical Hacking Training Institute In Indore

As a result, many candidates feel that they have done poorly in the exam, as all candidates have to get only 50% of the correct answers. This psychological phenomenon is common for CAT aspirants as most fixed form tests cause candidates to get a high proportion of correct answers due to their inability to target the subjects. Candidates should note that the number of answers is not correct, it is important that everyone gets about 50% correct, the difficulty in answering the items correctly is to pass the exam. is.

I passed the 100 question exam, but somehow I didn’t get my result right away at that PearsonVue center, so I had to go back home and check the result from my PearsonVue account.

CISSP is an English language exam. On most questions, you might think you have a chance of getting 4 out of 4 answers right, but there are subtle differences that you’ll learn to spot during preparation (for example, choose a risk-based approach and eliminate ambiguous answers).

The funny thing is, since I’m not a native English speaker, I just forgot if “pass” was “good” or “bad”, so I was very worried until the official result arrived in my mailbox. That’s why in my native English, instead of “passed” or “failed”, we say “passed successfully” or “passed successfully”. So if you’re worried, just know that “pass” means “good” and “fail” … you know, means you have to work hard. 😉

Feels Good, Man.

I don’t want to spend a lot of time on certification, it’s about applying knowledge and protecting the common good. I want to take the CSSLP to show my safe software life cycle experience and I know it’s best not to lose momentum after passing the first exam.

I often forget, I often don’t believe, if you work hard, motivation and determination, you can achieve great results and this is a constant reminder to me not to forget and believe in yourself.

To become a CISSP, you must pass an exam, which usually requires you to attend a course or study one of the various tutorials available. As you might expect, each of these costs money. At the time of writing (ending February 2022) the CISSP exam costs £585 – a lot, but given how much is covered and how reputable the CISSP is, it’s a worthwhile investment in my opinion. Courses can cost thousands of pounds (long, one week, accommodation).
