There is an open period for family members, retirees and families to switch from TRICARE First to TRICARE Select and vice versa.

1. Follow your plan. If you want to stay in your current TRICARE health plan, it will do nothing for you. Continue with your current health plan until 2022 or as long as you want.

2. Enroll in the plan. If you are eligible for TRICARE Prime or TRICARE but are not enrolled, you can enroll in a plan now.

3. Change plans. If they are already enrolled in TRICARE Prime or Select, you can change the plan by the individual’s household address.

According to Health mil, TRICARE Primary care is available in primary care centers in the United States; Beneficiaries are designated as care workers who provide their maximum care. TRICARE Select is a direct, preferred provider network. TRICARE Select is a fee-for-service option that allows patients to receive care from a TRICARE-authorized provider.

Health.mil Retirees and families using Prime, TRICARE Select Life are eligible for both vision and dental plans. Family members are eligible for the vision plan only.
